What is the cost of walk-on floor glass?

Walk on floor glass comes in a range of sizes, shapes and specifications so costs will vary. DioMet have two standard thicknesses that can be bought online in some standard sizes or contact us for a bespoke quotation.

As a rule of thumb, as at the posted date, our 25.5mm toughened and laminated glass is £265 / metre and our 31.5mm option is £350 / metre inclusive of VAT.

What thickness glass should i use to walk on?

Each application is different and the thickness of glass used should be appropriate for your individual circumstances and intended use. There is unfortunately no blanket answer so DioMet strongly advise getting in touch with a structural engineer to confirm your proposal and advise accordingly.

DioMet can supply glass in various thicknesses and compositions such as double or triple laminates as required.

How long will it take to manufacture my walk on glass?

All our glass, even those listed as 'standard' sizes are in reality made to order. Our walk on floor glass goes through various heat treatment processes and as such our lead time for all toughened and laminated walk on floor glass is generally 2-3 working weeks from order.

Can you supply a drop-in frame for the glass?

Certainly. DioMet are fabrication specialists and regularly supply custom made frames for use with our floor glass- just ask!

Anything else to know about walk on glass?

When buying walk on floor glass there are a couple of optional extras to be considered such as the application of a non-slip coating - more popular on internal applications than external.

Also, when the mounted floor glass is affixed in such a way that the edges are visible, it is a popular request to either frost or backpaint a border to the glass in the same width as the bearing timbers or steel below to create a more attractive, neater finish.
