Sun Shade Sail Post

A heavy-duty steel post for hanging a sun shade sail, made to order from 48mm tubular steel so it stands up to a tensioned sail and years outdoors. Each post is made and priced individually and takes around two to three weeks. The sail itself is not included. Made by hand in the UK and delivered nationwide.

Standard hot-dip galvanised finish, good for around 25 years in the weather
Optional powder-coat over the galvanising in black, anthracite grey (RAL 7016) or white
Available in 3m or 3.4m lengths

What's on the post

A stainless steel rigging ring (eyebolt) at the top to attach your sail
An optional tie-off cleat, so you can run a pulley and raise or lower the sail (the "adjustable" option)
An optional 60mm diameter, 500mm long ground socket if you want the post to be removable rather than concreted straight in

A note on the top of the post

Some of the photos show an acorn finial, a rounded decorative top, on the pole. That is optional and not fitted as standard. If you would like one, just drop us an email after you have ordered and we will add it. Otherwise the post comes finished with a plain flat cap over the top.

Fitting it

The simplest method is to concrete the post straight into the ground with Postcrete. If you would rather be able to take it down, choose the ground-socket option and the post drops into the socket instead.

Please note: we recommend setting each post at roughly a 10-degree lean away from the sail. That angle helps the post carry the load and adds to its strength. The posts are designed to be lightly tensioned only, just enough to take the sag out of the sail, and are not intended to be pulled drum-tight. Over-tensioning puts far more strain on the post and fixings than the setup is meant to take.
