Here you will find a small selection of examples of previous bespoke juliet balconies and walk out balcony systems made to specific customer requirements.
DioMet offer various standard sized juliet balconies however should you have a specific requirement we are more than happy to help.
STEP OUT BALCONIES
DioMet often get asked for a juliet balcony that will protrude just far enough to allow it to be stepped on. Reasons for this include anything from decorative flower pot areas to sun-bathing spots for cats!
In these situations we can provide a suitable flooring to step out onto, generally a steel mesh or timber decking.
WALK OUT BALCONIES
Our walk out balconies generally protrude approx 1metre from the building and allow for a seating area. They are supported by a channel framework and either gallows brackets or tie-rods to support the extra weight.
Larger walk out balconies tend to have decked flooring which can be cut to size and provided by DioMet if required.
Your balcony design can incorporate various materials and can be made to match existing steelwork, colours, patterns:
PRIMARY MATERIAL
- Stainless Steel
Our stainless steel juliet balconies are manufactured from 316G (marine grade) stainless for external use. We offer a brushed finish to 320 grit as standard but can also provide mirror polished products too. At Diomet we have our own in-house polishing facilities at our workshop in Sheffield and all products are given a final polish prior to dispatch.
The most popular designs with stainless steel are using tubular handrails / posts to create a modern and contemporary balcony whilst remaining cost effective.
- Mild Steel / Wrought Iron
The major alternative to stainless steel would be mild steel AKA wrought iron. Mild steel components are much more cost effective than stainless steel and provide a more traditional look to your balcony system. Designs for mild steel juliets are limited only by your imagination, many customers will mix and match juliet features to create a completely unique product for their home.
Mild steel fabricated balcony systems can be finished in :
Primer painted : For basic weathering protection to be painted by the customer.
Galvanised : Hot dip galvanized finish to protect from the elements for upto 40 years. This is our standard balcony finish and is highly recommended for minimal maintenance. Galvanised balconies can be painted by the customer at a later date if required . Please make sure that you T-Wash the balcony prior to applying paint otherwise the paint will not adhere properly, use a product known as 'mordant solution' .

Galvanised and Powdercoated : Balcony will be galvanised, T-Washed and then polyester powdercoated for a durable and smooth finish. We can paint most basic colours requested or coat to a specific RAL code or BS number. Many customers like to match the juliet balcony to the colour of their windows for example. Send us a sample of your material and we can provide a colour-match service too.

- Timber Handrailing
We offer various timber handrail options to finish off your juliet, the most popular and readily available being Iroko.
Our in house engineers will manufacture a steel 'ribbon rail' that would support the timber above it. All balcony projects that include a timber handrail will be pre-assembled, sanded and oiled prior to dispatch with any joints filled and smoothed off.
Other timber is available on request such as Scandinavian Pine, Yellow Balau, Ipe, Massaranduba and oak.
INFILL MATERIAL
- Glass
Toughened glass panels are particularly popular in our juliet balconies. We use 10mm toughened safety glass as standard with polished edges and radius corners.
Other glass options include frosted / sandblasted, tinted, laminated, screen printed or we can even sandblast a particular design feature into the panel.
- Solid bar
Solid round or square infill bars are the most common and cost effective way to infill a mild steel juliet balcony. Building regulations state that a sphere of 100mm must not be able to pass through any point of the juliet, therefore our infill bars are manufactured to at gaps no larger than 95mm.
The infill bars can incorporate various ornate features such as collars, rings, twists or full decorative panels
- Perforated Sheet.
Perforated sheet metal panels can also be used. These provide a higher level of privacy but still allow the necessary light to flow through the balcony. Options include stainless steel / mild steel and there are a number of different perforated patterns to choose from.
