Engineered for Longevity and DIY Efficiency

When Paul required a sturdy access solution for his domestic property in Wales, he chose Dio-Met for our "made-to-measure" accuracy and straightforward assembly. The project involved a landing platform and a custom-sized flight of stairs, all manufactured in our Sheffield workshop.

• Weather-Proof Durability: To withstand the Welsh climate, all metalwork was hot-dip galvanized. The stringers and balustrades were further enhanced with a powdercoated finish in RAL 5008, providing a sleek, modern aesthetic.

• High-Footfall Treads: Following our technical advice, the non-slip checkerplate (durbar) treads were left in a natural galvanized finish. This prevents the inevitable visual wear and tear that powdercoating suffers in high-traffic areas, ensuring the stairs remain maintenance-free for decades.

• Simple "Bolt-Together" Design: The entire system was designed as a kit-form unit. Every hole is pre-drilled and every component is precision-aligned in our workshop before dispatch, making it easy for any competent person to install without specialist tools.

• Cost-Effective Quality: By choosing a supply-only route, Paul achieved a premium, UKCA-certified structural staircase while eliminating the cost of a professional installation team.

Technical Expert Insight: Structural Safety in Self-Installation

Many "off-the-shelf" staircases fail to meet UK building regulations because they lack the necessary structural bracing for the landing platform. For Paul's project, our decades of research into steel fabrication allowed us to engineer a platform that remains perfectly rigid under load without requiring complex masonry fixings. Even when opted for as a supply-only kit, every Dio-Met staircase is UKCA certified to BS 1090 standards. This provides the homeowner with the legal peace of mind that their self-installed staircase is as safe and structurally sound as one fitted by our own Sheffield teams.
