19mm clear toughened glass, cut to your sizes. The thickest single pane we supply, and despite that it is a furniture glass rather than an architectural one.

What 19mm is for

Thick, self-supporting table tops. At 19mm the glass is substantial enough to be the table rather than a layer protecting one — spanning between legs or a frame, with nothing continuous underneath it.

That is the difference between the two furniture thicknesses we stock. 6mm sits flat on a timber surface and is protecting and finishing it. 19mm stands on its own.

It is not a balustrade glass

Thickness in a balustrade is not a simple ladder, and being the thickest pane we sell does not make 19mm the most structural. Balustrade thickness is decided by how much work the frame is doing, and the answers are 10mm for a framed system, 12mm for an internal run with a handrail, 15mm frameless with a handrail, and laminated where there is no handrail. Our glass balustrade regulations guide sets it out properly.

A note on the green

All standard glass carries a faint green cast from the iron in it, and the effect builds with thickness — so at 19mm, on a polished edge you are looking at end-on, it is more visible than anywhere else in the range. Most people either do not mind or rather like it. If you want the glass as colourless as possible, ask us about low iron, which is noticeably clearer side by side.

Weight is worth planning for too. A 19mm panel is heavy, so tell us the finished size and we will tell you what it will weigh before you commit to a base.

Ordering and delivery

Every panel is made to your own dimensions, to the millimetre. We do not hold standard sizes and there is no stock list to pick from — put the length and height you need into the calculator and the price shown is for that exact panel, cut and toughened for your job.

Tell us about any holes, cut-outs, notches or radius corners at the same time. Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled once it has been through the furnace, so everything has to be done before it is toughened and nothing can be trimmed on site. For anything unusual use our bespoke toughened glass service.

Polished edges and a proper 5mm radius corner as standard on all four corners — not the dubbed corner, knocked off by hand, that a lot of suppliers will quote you. Details on our material and finish standards page. Manufactured to BS EN 12150, impact classified to BS EN 12600.

Nationwide delivery typically 3–4 weeks; check terms for excluded zones. Call 0114 243 9009 or email sales@diometonline.co.uk.

A note on specification

The guidance on this page reflects what we typically supply for jobs of this kind, and is offered in good faith to help you order the right thing. It is not a structural specification and it is not a substitute for project-specific design. Barrier heights, spans, loadings, fixings, substrates and exposure all vary from site to site, and the final specification for your project remains the responsibility of you, your designer, your structural engineer or your building control body. We manufacture and supply to the sizes and specification you give us. If you are unsure, send us the details before ordering and we will tell you what we would normally supply for a job like yours.
