Ready-made hinged glass floor hatches, in stock now and available without the usual manufacturing wait. They are the same build as our made-to-order units, a structural walk-on glass panel in a gas-strut steel frame, just in fixed, ready sizes for immediate dispatch or collection. Why buy from stock

Our made-to-order hatches take a few weeks to manufacture. Stock units skip that: they are already built, so they can ship straight away. If a listed size suits your opening, it is the quickest way to a finished, walk-on glass cellar door.

Availability changes, but stock usually includes:

• Both handle styles: the flush streamline handle and the ring pull handle
• Lockable units and non-slip treated panels
• Occasionally an electric, automated unit, supplied with a wall switch and remote (the electric version has no handles)

Each listing is sold as described, so check the size drop-down for the exact sizes, styles and specifications in stock right now. Unless noted otherwise, units are powder-coated black with black painted glass edges.

The sizes above are what we happen to have in stock. If none fits your opening, you do not have to compromise: the same hatch is made to your exact size in the streamline handle or ring pull handle version, with a manufacturing lead time. • 25.5mm toughened and laminated structural glass panel, sealed into the frame
• Powder-coated black steel framework with hinged, gas-strut opening mechanism
• Black steel framing with black painted glass borders
• Streamline or ring pull handles, depending on the unit (electric units have none)
• Optional lock and non-slip treatment (see each listing)
• Supplied fully assembled, ready to set into your prepared opening

Sizes and fitting

The size shown is the exact recess measurement, so the unit fits straight into an opening of that size. On stock units the longer dimension is usually the hinged side. Full drawings are available on request if you want to check before buying.

Certifications and standards

Steel frameworks are UKCA marked to BS EN 1090-2. The glass is engineered for the domestic (Category A) floor loadings in the UK National Annex to BS EN 1991-1-1:2002, a 1.5kN/sqm distributed load and a 2.0kN point load, and these hatches are structurally approved for domestic use. Glass thickness can vary with size, position, building use and support, so consult a structural glass engineer if unsure; meeting your own building control sign-off remains your responsibility. The optional non-slip finish reaches a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 68, against the 36 usually needed to rate as low slip risk in the dry; see our anti-slip guide.

Where they suit

These walk-on glass trap doors are for cellar, basement and storage access, not as the main way in and out of a habitable room, and the frames are not watertight, so keep them to internal, dry areas.

International delivery

We ship worldwide. As these are supplied fully assembled, overseas delivery is quoted per order: send us the unit you want and your delivery address and we will price the crating and freight.

Availability

Stock is limited and moves quickly. Custom orders take priority in the workshop, so we cannot always keep these on the shelf, and popular sizes tend to sell soon after they are listed. If you see one that fits, it is worth ordering promptly. If nothing in stock suits, the same hatches are available made to order, with a manufacturing lead time.
