Understanding the need for a cost-effective yet transformative solution, Dio-Met proposed the installation of a base mounted, core drill fixed stainless steel and glass balustrade system. This choice was a strategic decision that upheld the integrity of the existing structure, avoiding the substantial costs of constructing an entirely new balcony.

Technical Expert Insight: Corner Structural Considerations

The original construction of the existing balcony's metalwork presented a unique challenge: the bolted connections prevented direct corner fixes with any standard baluster bases. To preserve the structural integrity and the aesthetic of the balustrade design, we ingeniously installed custom fabricated corner brackets. This solution effectively bypassed the existing structural bolts while maintaining maximum rigidity against wind loads, a common requirement for elevated Huddersfield properties. By utilizing this customised method, we ensure the new system is "plug-and-play" for the installer without requiring complex on-site welding or structural modification- not of which is visible from above, with just a standard base cover rose seen that matches the rest of the balustrade.
