Jason’s research led him to Dio-Met because he wanted a structure that would outlast the property. Unlike many "budget" balcony kits that use timber joists (which rot and warp over time), Jason’s balcony is built with a 100% steel sub-frame.

• Anthracite Grey Aesthetic: The ring beam, posts, and joists were all powdercoated to match the modern window frames of the property, creating a cohesive architectural look.

• Low-Maintenance Decking: We utilized premium grey composite decking boards, which provide a non-slip surface that requires no staining or treating—ideal for the North Yorkshire climate.

• Privacy Solutions: To ensure Jason could enjoy his new space without overlooked concerns, the side elevation features frosted (sandblasted) laminated glass, providing total privacy while still allowing light to pass through.

• The "Test-Build" Guarantee: To ensure total peace of mind, we provided a test build of the balcony base in our workshop before site delivery, ensuring a "glove-fit" installation on day one.

Technical Expert Insight: Structural Rigidity in Walkout Systems

When designing a walkout balcony of this scale, the primary engineering concern is deflection and lateral sway. Many inferior products on the market feel "bouncy" because they use undersized timber joists or thin-walled steel. At Dio-Met, we utilize heavy-duty steel joists and a rigid ring-beam construction that meets strict UKCA / BS EN 1090 structural standards. This ensures that the balcony remains perfectly rigid under full capacity. Furthermore, by handling the footing excavation ourselves, we ensured the structural posts were anchored into concrete pads designed to handle the specific wind-load and dead-weight of a glass-heavy system. This is a level of structural accountability that generic "kit" suppliers simply cannot provide.
