The Challenge

Daniel in London required a custom-shaped glass floor panel and support structure that needed to blend seamlessly with the unique radius of an existing spiral staircase.

The Dio-Met Solution

We manufactured a tailored 'Frame B' design steel framework. This system stands self-sufficiently on floor joists, allowing the glass to be removed if large items need to be transported between floors.

  • Frame: Pristine white powder-coated steel.

  • Glass: 25.5mm toughened and laminated structural glass.

  • Detailing: A painted border was applied to the glass to neatly hide the neoprene gasket supports.

One of the most common issues with bespoke glass floors is achieving a perfect fit against curved structures like spiral stairs 

At Dio-Met, we utilize precise templating to ensure the steel framework and the 25.5mm glass panel mirror the staircase radius exactly [cite: 2026-02-03]. Furthermore, by using a self-sufficient frame anchored to joists, we ensure the load-bearing integrity is independent of the staircase itself, meeting all UKCA certification requirements for structural safety.
