Air Conditioning Framework
Air Conditioning Framework Fabrication
The Beach Boys may have been getting ‘good vibrations’ but the users of Nottingham University were not- A large air-conditioning unit when fixed to the floor was creating quite some noise, vibration and disruption so DioMet were employed to find a solution.
The air-con machine was quite a hefty piece of machinery and the only viable solution to reduce vibrations through the floor was quite simply to lift it off the floor entirely by suspending it from above with a steel cradle framework. The metal frame was constructed from galvanized finish steel and designed to house the whole unit in a rigid, bolted construction that could be manoeuvred to and assembled at the installation point.
The steel support arms extend through the office style suspended ceiling system and attach to the building’s structural ring beam trusses to provide suitable, solid fixing support. The unit is then carried by a snug fitting angle framework complete with support braces to hold the whole air-con system some 50mm off the floor level.
The works were carried out at Nottingham University on behalf of main contractor GF Tomlinsons and installed by Derry Ltd who provided the air-con unit.
Andy from Derry Ltd contacted us to express his thanks :
Hi Steve,

Hopefully done the trick.
Kind regards,
Andy B
