Apprentice Fabricator Progression
Nurturing the talent of young apprentice fabricators.
Working alongside Simons Construction and under the direction of Avanti Architects, Dio-Met Fabrications Ltd are the designated architectural metalworker on the new £40 Million extension to the Sheffield Children's Hospital. DioMet's contract for the metalwork package is extensive and includes a variety of balustrades, handrails, staircases and canopies - We shall be posting more information on these elements as the works proceed however this particular installation is worthy of a mention for a special reason.
For many years now the construction industry has been creating a practical skills void with the lack of apprenticeship opportunities available to the younger generations and with no rising talent coming through the ranks, a total decline will soon trouble the manufacturing industry as a whole. With the assistance of a Sheffield Council led incentive, here at DioMet we have been able to start a comprehensive training programme for enthusiastic young individuals to progress and develop into the skilled fabricators of tomorrow.
Our oldest apprentice Jordan has recently led the way on the Sheffield Children's Hospital steel canopy requirement by completing the job from start to finish - a task which involved the manufacture and subsequent installation of 5-7 Clarkson Street galvanized steel canopy, precision engineered from our technical drawings and erected on site without fault. Jordan has worked his way up through our apprentice programme to become a valuable asset to the DioMet team.
