Glass Veranda Canopy

Project Completion – Private Client Glazed Canopy- Wath Upon Dearne

“DioMet have recently completed the installation of a large veranda glass canopy for a customer in Wath, Rotherham. The canopy installed is 5.5m wide and 3metres deep with toughened glass roof covering and replaced an older leaking canopy system”

Our client Norman first enquired in relation to replacing his existing traditional timber canopy system with a more modern and functional design that extended over his patio. Norman had acquired some old lamp posts over the years and wanted to incorporate them into the design to support the front edge of the canopy structure.

 

To kick-start the project, Norman removed the existing canopy and booked a survey and design consultation to discuss the finer details and feasibility of creating the desired canopy and incorporating the cast iron lampposts. After survey, Dio-Met designed a workable solution in AutoCAD for Norman’s consideration and the rest is history…..

 

 

The lamp-posts were cut to size to suit the design and adapted to fit to an adjacent upstand wall that formed the patio. Each cast iron lamppost was then shotblasted to remove all the old paintwork and grime prior to the manufacture process. Gallows brackets were added to the  posts for support and to give an ornate detail and then they were all adapted to carry the weight of the canopy frontage.

The rest of the design was fabricated from steel box sections, toughened glass panels and glazing bars all powdercoated in a light grey finish. Installation was completed over the summer and a guttering system added to direct rainfall flow.

The new glass canopy veranda now provides a watertight covered area for Norman and his family to enjoy, even on rainy days.
