Custom Pergola Design
Summer is around the corner and with it comes the warmth of the sun, but the direct rays can be too much, especially for young children. That's why we were thrilled to create a custom steel pergola for a family who wanted to add a shaded area to their garden. But this wasn't just any pergola - it was designed to fit around a large tree in their garden, creating a unique and beautiful outdoor space.
We used chunky galvanized and powdercoated anthracite grey steel with polycarbonate roofing to keep the area waterproof, but it was the little details that really made this pergola special. We designed the front beam to hang garden chairs and hammocks, something that's not possible with off-the-shelf pergolas, and added multiple drilled and tapped locations so that different things can be hung, such as lights, chairs, blinds, or hanging baskets.
For the BBQ area, we created a tiled workbench and integrated a cast iron pizza oven with a chimney through the roof, providing the perfect spot for family dinners and gatherings with friends. But we didn't stop there - we even integrated a washing line under the cantilever section, so clothes can be dried without worrying about getting wet.
All of these features were designed with the family's young children in mind, creating a safe and fun outdoor space for them to enjoy. From the iroko timber detailing to the custom features, this pergola truly exceeded expectations and we're thrilled to have been a part of creating such a special space for this family.
