Criss-Cross Metal Railings

Criss-Cross Metal Railings

“Metal railings as a concept may well be considered traditional or even outdated given the popularity of modern glass balustrading alternatives but railings still remain our ‘bread and butter’ fabrication work and this example features a funky criss-cross infill pattern which bridges the gap between traditional and modern styling”

Our client Jackie instructed us to design, manufacture and install bespoke metal railing panels to her staircase and gallery landing overlooking the home’s kitchen area. The effect Jackie wanted was one of criss-cross patterns, similar to something she had seen in a home-style magazine.

The design is constructed from bespoke designed laser cut infill panels, fabricated into a steel support structure with a ‘D bar’ handrail profile which are all shot-blasted to remove mill scale. The railings were supplied primer painted and then finished on site with RAL 7016 anthracite grey paint.

We also provided Jackie with a large structural walk-on glass panel mounted within a steel support framework installed within the flooring recess over her front door. The glazed floor panel provides much needed light transfer to the hallway area below and creates a stunning house feature. The open end of glass was supported with a ‘glass beam’ to the open end, and avoid any ugly metalwork detail when viewed from below.
