Glass Wind Break Screen

Toughened Glass Wind Break Screen / Privacy Screen

“A glass wind-breaker screen can provide welcome shelter on a windy, but otherwise pleasant day. Our glass wind screens are all made to order and can be customised to suit your preferred height, length or glass specification…..”

Dio-Met Fabrications Ltd have been producing bespoke glass balustrades, fences and wind screen barriers for nearly 30 years and with everything made bespoke, you can have exactly what you need without having to make do with a ‘standard’ product.

Our most popular raised glass screens are manufactured using stainless steel upright posts with toughened glass infill panels. The glass provides a barrier to wind and is also often used with frosted glass to provide a good level of privacy on patio or balcony areas which adjoin a neighbouring garden- this is also a popular demand from local planning authorities to ensure neighbours are not overlooked.

These glass wind breaker systems and raised privacy glass screens can be made to any length and within reason, any height- a typical screen will be circa 1.5 or 1.8metres tall and although stainless steel is a popular material, they can also be made with galvanized steel and powdercoated to any colour – matching window and door colours for example where required.

Installation of a glass wind break screen is usually straight-forward for any keen DIY enthusiast and certainly for any builder or tradesperson. The base fixing detail can be designed to suit your own fixing surfaces and posts can either have a holed base plate for a mechanical fixing, or left long for you to concrete into your ground level.

Clear and frosted glass are the two most popular infills used however we can also offer tinted glass in grey or bronze and a whole manner of different sand-blasted patterns if you’d like to personalise the screen further.

Where a raised glass wind or privacy screen is used as an extension of a glass balustrade, on a raised balcony for example, it is usual practice to use an off-set handrail to maintain the guarding height of 1100mm and thus maintain building regulation compliance with BS6180.

A typical glass wind break would take approximately 2-3 weeks to manufacture. All metalwork is fabricated in our Sheffield workshop by our skilled fabricators and the toughened glass panels sourced locally from another Yorkshire based company. Delivery is available nationwide through our network of pallet couriers so whether at the tip of Scotland or Lands End, we can help.
