Our client Brett got in touch with a requirement for the design, manufacture and delivery of a bespoke steel staircase for his property in Chester, alongside some walk-on floor glazing for the galleried landing. As a tradesman, this project was supply only and the staircase, balustrades and floor glass installed by Brett and his team.
The design chosen uses a box-section steel spine which carries the 50mm thick solid oak treads and is complimented with side-mounted frameless glass balustrades connecting to the treads with chunky stainless steel glass clamps; a thoroughly modern design.
This stunning feature staircase connects the open-plan ground floor kitchen and living space with the gallery landing above. Walk-on structural floor glass panels were also supplied to the landing to increase light flow throughout the house and continue the modern and luxurious aesthetics upstairs.
The landing / walkway is protected on either side by our frameless channel glass balustrade System 4 which uses a brushed finish aluminium base track with 17.5mm toughened and laminated structural glass.
All the base metalwork on this staircase is powdercoated in a contemporary looking anthracite grey finish, a very popular choice, and one that contrasts beautifully with the modern stainless steel accents provided by the glazing clamps.
It must also be noted that all customers are made fully aware of the required building regulations prior to placing an order and any deviation from such advice is done at their own risk. This staircase (for domestic use) would typically require riser infills and handrails in order to meet current building regulations as per BS6180.
