Product Packaging Review
Since the recent boom of DIY project packages we have had to review our packaging and distribution methods.
Pallets
Balustrade, balcony and canopy products containing more than one piece of glass are packaged on a pallet. These pallets have now been custom made with a 200mm upstand all around the edges to protect from any damage in transit. On top of this we place an extra timber sheet, just incase any item is ever dropped on the pallet once it leaves our premises and is effectively our of our control.
Pallets are delivered using specialist couriers with tail-lift vehicles offering kerb-side drops instead of having to hand-ball off each individual item.
Despite our glass being toughened and heat soaked, we still take every precaution to protect it in transit.
We are able to dispatch products on pallets upto 2.7metres wide. Anything larger would go via a special courier service.
Boxing
Individual pieces of glass <1800mm x 1000mm are packaged in custom made MDF boxes and are currently dispatched via TNT courier.
Wrapping
Any item that is too long for our pallets but is still of managable weight will be sent via TNT courier. Handrails for example are packaged in heavy wall cardboard tubing.
Canopy components are dispatched in custom made cardboard boxes.
Here at DioMet we put 100% effort and commitment into producing a high quality product. What happens to that product after it leaves our warehouse is completely out of our control and although there are very few instances of damage, we are still conscious of the need to review our packaging systems hence the above changes.
