Unlike solid flooring options, glass floor panels do not create shadows, and they do not require artificial lighting. Therefore, installing a walk-on glass floor panel will make your rooms brighter and seemingly larger, while not adding to your electricity bill.

While the installation of a walk-on glass floor system should be simple for most competent builders, tradesmen, or DIYers, there are a few key points to keep in mind when designing a glass floor. Firstly, all glass should be installed level to avoid any potential hazards. Secondly, we strongly advise all glass is non-slip treated to avoid any unnecessary incidents. Thirdly, all glazing should be protected with appropriate framing.

We offer three steel framework designs to support your floor glass panels, and our key takeaway point is that glass should be protected, especially on its edges where it is susceptible to damage. Finally, floor glass should be seated on its bearing surface by 50mm on all sides and cushioned with neoprene gaskets. Glass should never be allowed to touch any steel, wood, concrete or other surface. The edges between steel frameworks and glass panels are typically sealed with silicone.

A steel framework will make installation easier and provide a solid, rigid surface to floor upto without damaging your glass panels. Furthermore steel will not warp or split like timber might, which could potentially damage the glass over time.
