Stainless steel newel cap covers are a popular, easy and cost effective way to transform an existing timber staircase into a more updated and modern version. A newel cap cover acts as a simple transition bracket between a wooden stair post and a new stainless steel handrail

The vast majority of houses have the same style of staircase balustrade- a timber structure comprising upright wooden newel posts, timber handrail and spindle-style infill bars. Many people renovate their old existing staircases but are left with the existing structural timber newel posts to consider – removal is a major job and replacement or cladding isn’t much easier either.

DioMet’s renovation solution is a simple one – our stainless steel newel post  cap covers. These covers are made to fit over your existing timber newel post and provide a connecting link between the upright post and a new design handrail; in many cases stainless steel.

All our stainless steel newel cap covers are made to order and can be designed to fit over any size of timber post or manufactured with differing length stems as required; often to bring an old staircase into line with current building regulations in terms of the handrail height.

A typical picture is shown below, whereby toughened glass panels are inserted between existing timber posts with our stainless steel glass clamps and the handrail formed from stainless steel with our newel post covers and adjustable angle stems- easy!
