DioMet have recently completed the installation of nearly 100no. toughened glass infill panels to a commercial office space in Central London. The glazing panels were installed between existing steel balustrade barriers to provide additional safety and security, whilst also increasing aesthetic appeal.

Our client got in contact initially to enquire over the possibility of infilling their existing office railings for health and safety reasons due to the large gaps in the handrail system. Although the existing metal railings would technically be building regulation compliant for their current use, it had been identified that health and safety could be improved by infilling those gaps.

The proposal we offered to our client was both cost-effective, practical and simple; infill the gaps with toughened safety glass secured with our stainless steel glazing clamps. Once the quotation was approved, we arranged a full site survey to measure up for the glass, which would all be made-to-order to suit each individual gap.

Installation was completed out-of-hours to avoid disruption to the working day of the office environment, at weekends, over the course of 3 weeks. The final effect is one that is both visually attractive, and suited to a modern office setting but also provides significantly higher levels of safety, particularly for those persons working on the ground floor from potential falling items.
