This internal floating glass stair was completed for our customer Darren in Worksop who required a minor variation of our steel spine staircase. A full service was completed including site survey, design, manufacture and installation (hot off the press install picture below)

For most applications a fully ‘floating’ staircase is not practical as the amount of support required from an adjoining wall is substantial to support the weight and cantilever the whole stair- the compromise would be to use a steel spine to support the oak treads and create the illusion of a floating glass balustrade system when affixed to the tread ends.

The steel spine in this example was powdercoated In the ever popular RAL 7016 anthracite grey which offers a truly contemporary aesthetic, balanced perfectly with chunky oak treads and a side mounted frameless glass balustrade with stainless steel fixtures and matching handrail.

All our steel spine / floating staircases are bespoke and made to order with a typical stair taking approximately 6-8 weeks to complete. All staircases are designed to the relevant building regulations and certified with a UKCA Declaration of Performance as required for building control sign-off. Any deviation from a compliant design is completed at the customers own knowledge and risk (stair riser infills excluded in this example)

Each bespoke steel and glass staircase is fabricated in our workshops in Sheffield using locally sourced raw materials and only ever installed by our own fitting team- never subcontractors. A stair should be simple to install for most competent builders or tradespersons.

To further ensure perfect fitment, each glass and steel staircase we manufacture is fully trial built in our fabrication shop so whether installed by ourselves or delivered for assembly by others, we can be ensure full quality control and customer satisfaction.
