Domestic and Private Metal Staircases

In domestic buildings, we understand that appearance is just as important as functionality and the design may be straight, curved, spiral or include a mixture of colours and materials. The most common way to enhance a steel staircase is to upgrade the balustrade and handrails- this could be with the introduction of glass, steel wires or ornate detailing.

Commercial and Industrial steel Staircases

Dio-Met work for some of the largest building contractors in the UK including Bam, Lindum, Kier, Vinci, Wilmott Dixon, Simons, Henry Boot and GF Tomlinsons so we are used to large scale projects that include a wide range of metal access stairs, fire escapes and cat ladders. The vast majority of steel staircase structures are mild steel with anti-slip closed riser treads and usually galvanized finished for external use or powdercoated for internal applications.

Staircase Removal or Repair

It is often the case that an older staircase may have fallen into disrepair or require some modification to meet current building regulations. DioMet frequently remove existing staircases and replace with new, safe versions that are fully compliant with building regulations although there are occasions where a minor repair or alteration can be made to save an existing staircase.

Metal Staircase Fabrication

All our metal staircases are designed, manufactured and trial fitted in our Sheffield workshop ensuring full control over design, quality and safety. All our staircases (and any structural metalwork) are manufactured to BS EN 1090-2 as required by law and supplied with a declaration of performance for building control sign off. Buyer Beware- there are still many companies trading illegally and supplying staircases that are not CE marked to this standard.
