Handrails, Railings, Balconies and more..
“DioMet work on a range of projects from multi-million-pound commercial developments to single handrails on a domestic property’s steps. This blog rounds up a few of our smaller completed projects from the last couple of weeks including tinted glass and wire rope balustrades, staircase glazing, tubular handrails and metal estate rail fencing...”
There is a cliché that ‘no job is too small’ but this really is true for Dio-Met as although we supply some of the largest commercial developers in the country with our architectural metalwork services, we would also manufacture a single angle bracket for ‘Joe Bloggs’. To throw another cliché into the mix as a small-to-medium sized family run business we truly are big enough to cope but small enough to care.
A great deal of our work is ‘supply-only’ and we don’t get to see the end result in many cases however below are some of our latest smaller domestic projects that have either been installed by our own team, or where a customer has provided photos.
Project 1 : Walk-out Balcony with Glass Balustrades
This example is a classic version of our walk-out balcony with glass balustrade featuring anthracite grey powdercoated base steelwork with stainless steel and glass framed balustrading. The end panel uses a 1.8metre high shaped privacy screen to the neighbouring elevation; a common planning requirement. Our oak effect composite deck boards complete the balcony floor (range of other colours available)

Project 2 : Toughened Glass Panels to Staircase
Glass panels were measured to fit between an oak timber staircase and landing and installed with our stainless-steel glazing clamp system. 10mm clear toughened glass was supplied to finish off this new staircase system.

Project 3 : Stainless Steel Wire and Tinted Glass Balustrades
Our customer Trevor instructed us for the supply and installation of various stainless-steel handrails, tinted glass balustrades and wire-rope infill railings. All materials were supplied in our brushed finish stainless steel and manufactured bespoke in our Sheffield workshops.
Although this was a custom project, some generic pricing can be found for :
Stainless steel and glass balustrades
Project 4 : Powdercoated Steel Handrail
This steel access handrail was completed for our customer Julian in Sheffield and is a simple design consisting of upright tubular posts and handrail all powdercoated in dark green and core-drill fixed into the patio paving slabs.
Example handrail options here.
Project 5 : Estate Rail Fencing
DioMet supplied and installed bespoke curved estate railings to our client’s uneven garden path. Given the nature of the project the horizontal rails were pre-rolled to the nearest true radius and then adjusted on site to meet a best-fit to the available area then painted in-situ.

Project 6 : Glass Porch Canopy
This simple canopy was supplied for DIY installation as most of our glass door canopy systems are, with the client providing completed photos and a kind note expressing gratitude for our great service.

All our metalwork projects are surveyed and designed by our own team (where required) and manufactured in our Sheffield workshops. All raw materials are sourced from local companies where possible to reduce our carbon footprint and support the local economy and we only ever use our own fitting teams to install.
