Dio-Met supplied and installed this walk-out balcony with glass balustrade to our client Daphne’s property in Hathersage some 10 years ago and it’s still standing strong and she recently got back in touch with a requirement to add a steel staircase to the balcony, creating a more convenient access to her rear garden.

As can be seen in the below photo, the balcony has stood the test of time and 10 years later is now covered in various plants, pots and climbers all creating a lovely seating area to overlook the valley beyond the rear garden. Since this installation almost 10 years ago, we have altered our designs slightly to be even more durable by using steel joists and composite decking as standard.

Typically a new walkout steel and glass balcony would require a frosted privacy screen to neighbouring sides (a planning application stipulation) however this example is a little more natural; the huge thriving clematis truely enhances the balcony aesthetic, provides privacy and even though a weighty plant, isnt going to cause any trouble for the structure of this heavy duty balcony system. 

All of our walk out balconies are hot-dip galvanized and then powdercoated to almost any RAL colour (black in this example) - So if you are looking for a simple reason to opt for a steel and glass balcony over a timber alternative, consider this example and the longevity of a substantial steel framework that will not rot or warp!
