Glass Patio Balustrade Completed In Sheffield

Hot off the press, our most recent balustrade installation was completed this week in drizzly conditions in South Yorkshire. The stainless steel and toughened glass balustrade design was core drill and grout fixed into a raised patio area to provide an attractive but functional safe-edge barrier.

Our client Ian approached us after doing his research on local balustrade fabricators and seeing our positive online reviews- he came into our offices to get a feel for our company, see sample products and discuss in detail his glass patio balustrade requirement.

Ian opted for our most popular design, our System 1 stainless steel and glass infill balustrade which would be used to form edge-protection to the raised patio he had recently had landscaped. The patio design was such that a traditional bolt-down balustrade system would not have been suitable and Ian was therefore guided towards the most appropriate professional installation method : core-drill and grout fixing.

DioMet undertook a full service including site survey, design, manufacture and installation to give Ian ultimate peace-of-mind given that his last set of railings on the previous patio had failed. Core-drilling is not an installation method recommended for those who have not done so before and is best left to the professionals.

The balustrade specification was as follows :

§ 48.3mm tubular upright baluster posts

§ 42.4mm tubular handrail

§ 10mm clear toughened safety glass infill panels

§ 125mm round base cover rose

§ All metalwork stainless steel, external grade 316, brushed satin finish

§ Core-drill and grout fixed

§ Designed to 0.74kN minimum domestic loading at 1100mm high

§ All materials in compliance with BS EN1090-1 (CE-marked)

The balustrade installation was undertaken in miserable weather conditions which can be seen from the photo below. Hopefully our client Ian and his wife will get some good use out of the newly completed patio area when ‘summer’ arrives.
