Transforming a staircase
Renovating or replacing a tired or lifeless staircase into a new elegant centerpiece can be high on the to-do-list of any interior designer, homeowner or developer. Removing timber newels or plastic 'glass' to replace with high quality materials, modern styles and real glass can make a huge difference to the overall aesthetics of a room and help to create the WOW factor we all dream of.
A recent DioMet example for a customer in Chesterfield required the removal of a timber and plastic panel style balustrade fitted fairly recently by a well known staircase supplier and replaced with a higher quality DioMet balustrade system of stainless steel and toughened glass stair panels. Although when our customer purchased the property it came with what can be described as a new stair balustrade system, it was not one of fitting quality to match the building or our customer's discerning eye for style.

Refurbishing a staircase balustrade can offer many benefits allowing a new design, different materials and an upgrade in quality without the inconvenience of replacing the structural element of the stair which as a general rule would remain in situ. So why refurb?
- No need to replace the structure of the stair - drastically reducing costs, timescales, disruption and mess.
- Design and fabrication can be done off-site and as such most balustrade replacements can be completed within 2 days.
- A complete transformation of an existing stair for limited expense can be great value for money.
- No aftercare or painting would be required as all balustrade components would be pre-finished
- A staircase is often the main feature of the hallway, lounge or mezzanine and creating a wow-factor here can compliment the whole house.
