Buy British
The benefits of buying British products
So why should you buy British products? Well the answer may seem obvious to some people, it's a matter of simple patriotism, keeping your own economy strong and taking pride in your country and its produce. For many it is an obvious choice, know the supplier, build a rapport and buy a product with confidence - more a case of where can i buy British?, rather than why.
On the other hand of course, the rise of the internet and the opportunity to buy cheaper products from unknown sources has become increasingly popular, predominately cost driven as most transactions have now become depersonalized - no visiting the local shops, or even a trip into the nearest large town or shopping centre is required. Convenience has changed the way we consumers shop, but is it sustainable?
Many economists will celebrate globalization, telling of increasing efficiency, choice and the need to innovate and improve to maintain competitiveness. Unfortunately however there are many downsides as a direct consequence, often unseen, including exploitation of staff, unsafe working conditions and inferior production methods and quality of goods. It has become hard for the British to compete on price, especially when comparing apples with apples but would the British be happy with competing on price alone, especially when the quality of goods is not meeting consumer expectations? Hopefully not.
To real people like you and me, buying British has many benefits including :
- Ethical production methods
- Fair wages and good working conditions
- Responsibility for environmental impact
- Quality of goods and services
- Pride in your country and British capabilities
- Self reliance and future prosperity
- Opportunities for future generations
Many cheap, nasty and flimsy products have flooded the market in recent years and there is no real end in sight. What we as the British supplier must ensure is that quality is sought by our discerning consumers in products that will last, products that we are proud to manufacture and retail in Britain. Innovation can easily be copied but offering a stand out service and proudly stamping our products as 'made in Britain' may just make the difference.
Here at DioMet we believe in quality, value and customer service. Buy a washing line pole or handrail from a 'leading' supplier and they are simply the thinnest material money can buy and unlikely to last . DioMet's British made steelwork products by contrast are upto 3x thicker and made to last, made with care, and made in Britain in the heart of Sheffield. Unlike larger retailers, we can always be contacted by phone to discuss individual requirements - offering choice rather than one mass produced item.
Want a glass canopy? Well there are two choices nowadays - buy a mass produced item with flimsy brackets and a nasty plastic 'glass' cover - or buy from DioMet a beautifully crafted heavy duty set of canopy brackets, with a real glass, high quality cover.
The message is simple, we do not claim to be the cheapest on the market ( although by comparison to other UK companies we often are) but we do claim to be the best.
