A frameless glass balustrade is essentially one that does not require any support strength from baluster posts but instead uses a thicker structural toughened safety glass panel to obtain the loading requirements of the balustrade.

Frameless glass balcony systems really do look the part and are suited to many different applications but always look best when they are used to overlook extensive gardens, fields, or countryside to really take benefit from the ‘infinity’ style views.

This recent example was installed for our client Greg in Northumberland and uses 15mm clear toughened glass panels with our adjustable stainless steel glass clamps and a slotted stainless-steel handrail- our System 7 Side Mounted Frameless Glass Balustrade.

A handrail is always optional on our frameless glass balustrades, however where no handrail is used, toughened and laminated glass is required to meet UK safety standards.

We generally recommend a handrail as most people and their guests feel a lot more comfortable and safer when leaning on a physical handrail rather than just on glass panels (although such would be perfectly safe with laminated glass!).
