This balcony project was completed for our customer Ian in Shropshire, West Midlands and features a substantial walk out balcony landing platform to the rear property elevation complete with adjoining staircase leading from first floor French doors down to the garden area.

The majority of our walk-out balconies follow the same general design principle with a steel ring beam, intermediate decking joists and upright front support posts which are all galvanized and then powdercoated to the customers preferred colour. The perimeter glass balustrading can then be painted to match, or supplied (as in this example) in a contrasting stainless steel finish. If glass isn’t your thing, we also offer a more traditional railing design instead.

Composite decking was used on the main balcony platform base and the staircase leading to the garden used checkerplate treads, left in a galvanized finish. Whilst treads can also be powdercoated, we do not recommend such for high use areas as the paint finish on the tread nosings would wear over time.

The glass balustrade used for this project was our modular stainless steel design with tubular upright balusters and handrail with clamped 10mm clear toughened glass infills. The glass balustrade provides a safety barrier 1100mm high at the landing level and functional handrail access to the steps at 900mm high.

This balcony was supplied in kit form for assembly by others and delivered to site in Shrewsbury. All our balconies and staircases are trial built in our workshops to be sure of perfect fitment and installation should be simple for any competent tradespersons.

All structural steelwork (balconies, balustrades, staircases) are provided with a UKCA certified declaration of performance as is required by BS EN 1090 standards. All fabrication is completed in our Sheffield workshops and raw materials sourced as locally as is possible, usually within Yorkshire.
