Matthew is a joiner and regularly installs our glass balustrade systems in his client’s homes. After removing the old traditional timber rails that are common in many households, our custom-built stainless steel posts, handrails and glass panels are installed to completely modernise the staircase.

Timber handrails, posts and spindles are removed with any gaps filled and the remaining timberwork painted in preparation for the balustrade installation. Our custom base plates are fabricated to sit over the cut-down newel posts and the rest of the balustrade and glass designed in to suit.

A glass balustrade not only looks attractive, but also allows maximum light transmission through a property making rooms seem larger, brighter and more inviting than an older timber rail design.

The materials used in this project were tubular stainless steel handrails and baluster posts, proprietary glazing clamps and 10mm clear toughened safety glass panels. All stainless steel used was satin (brushed) polished finish.

Installation is simple for any skilled tradesperson as all the handrails are pre-assembled, pre-drilled and pre-fabricated to suit our AutoCAD drawing designs based on a few simple dimensions supplied by the customer.

Whilst this example was completed and shipped out to our customer, DioMet also offer a full survey, design and installation service for all balustrade systems subject to location and quantity.
