Dio-Met are one of the UK’s leading steel fabricators and we work nationwide however this spiral staircase project was completed right here in the Steel City, our home town, Sheffield.

A full service was required including site survey, design, manufacture and installation of a bespoke spiral steel staircase to provide access from ground level to a first floor balcony area. The balcony required our System 10 glass balustrade and included raised privacy screens and a matching glass gate.

All base steelwork was hot-dip galvanized, fettled and then powdercoated in a black paint finish with the exception of the checkerplate treads which were left in a galvanized only finish- we generally do not recommend painting stair treads for high use stairs as the paint will start to wear off over time with high foot traffic.

The upper balcony was fenced around the perimeter with a framed glass balustrade system with frosted privacy glass being used to the neighbouring elevation in a raised screen and gate design.

All our steel staircases and glass balustrade systems are made-to-order and made to last with substantial construction materials and high quality finishes unlike some of the ‘off the shelf’ paper thin imported staircase kits that might be available on the market. All structural steelwork is fully certified and supplied with the relevant UKCA certification as is required for building regulation sign off.

Fabrication of all our metalwork is completed in our Sheffield workshops and we only ever use our own installers, never subcontractors, in order to maintain our high levels of project control and quality assurance.
