The Project: Integrated Balcony and Access Solution

For this residential project in Woodford Green, our client, Bradley, required a complete outdoor living solution that combined a large elevated terrace with safe, stylish access to the garden below. We designed, manufactured, and installed a bespoke walk-out balcony measuring approximately 4m x 2m, featuring an integrated spiral staircase at one corner to maximize the available garden space and provide access.

The Solution: Engineering for Style and Function

This installation was a full "Supply and Install" project by the Dio-Met team, ensuring that the structural steelwork and architectural glass met all building regulations while enhancing the property’s aesthetic.

• Bespoke Walk-out Balcony: The 8-square-metre platform was engineered for high load-bearing capacity, providing a spacious and secure outdoor seating area.

• Integrated Spiral Staircase: To save space without compromising on design, we installed a custom-made spiral staircase at the corner of the balcony, finished to match the main structural framework.

• Glass Balustrades: The entire perimeter of the balcony was fitted with a framed glass balustrade system, providing an unobstructed view of the garden while ensuring a sleek, modern finish.

• Balcony Metalwork : All base metalwork was galvanzied and powdercoated anthracite grey (RAL 7016) with the handralis in brushed finish stainless steel. The client opted to leave the stair treads galvanized only for longevity of what would be a high use stair. 

• Complete Site Service: Our team handled the initial survey, precision manufacturing in our Sheffield workshop, and the final professional installation on-site in Chigwell.

The Result

The combination of the glass balustrade and the compact spiral staircase transformed the rear of the property, creating a seamless transition between the home and the garden. This project highlights our ability to deliver complex, multi-component architectural metalwork to high-end residential areas across Essex and the South East.
