Unique Glass Floor Project- Preserving a Train Carriage

Becki got in touch with us to discuss her project, which is like nothing we have ever seen before as her house actually encompasses and incorporates an antique train carriage which she had discovered when renovating the property.

Becki rightly wanted to make a showcase feature out of the train carriage and used our walk-on glass floor panels and neoprene gaskets to sit between the train carriage joists and form a new flooring system with LED lighting underneath to really enhance the feature area.

All our walk on floor glass is cut to size so Becki simply supplied a list of sizes for us to get manufactured, and number up for ease of installation. The glass panels are all quite small and therefore our 25.5mm toughened and laminated glass was used (we recommend this thickness for sizes upto 1metre in domestic properties).

The glass was seated on our neoprene rubber gaskets and installed by simply placing the glass into the individual recesses and silicone sealing in place. The overall effect is quite simply awesome and we love it (as does Becki!) and is nothing like what we expected when the photos came through.

The project has also gained attention from the Railway Heritage Trust who are working closely with Becki to document the renovation and preservation of this unique find.
