Wind break screen in Wales
Windy Wales
The weather throughout the UK can be described as unpredictable at the best of times with lashings of rain, snow and wind - and that's just a typical summer's day!
When the weather finally subsides and we get a glimmer of sunshine it's always pleasant to take a seat outdoors and enjoy a glass of wine in a reclining chair. A little breeze can be pleasant but too much can ruin a relaxing mood with newspapers flapping around and napkins flying off the table like badly crafted paper aeroplanes. Our Welsh and Scottish customers seem to bear the brunt of the wind and it is a common request for a glass balustrade screen to act solely as a wind deflection barrier.
Low level screens can be installed without the use of a handrail as they do not need to conform to stringent building regulations as would be required for areas that guard a fall in levels. Glass wind screens can therefore allow light through and maintain a clear view of the garden whilst keeping wind at bay and allowing for a calm, relaxed seating area. Alternatively frosted or tinted toughened glass is available to block out any overlooking neighbours or adjacent pathways that may be intrusive to your garden privacy.
A recent example has been completed for a customer in Denbighshire, Wales, whereby a simple 8ft high wind screen barrier has been installed adjacent to the house wall to provide respite from the wind. Clear glass was chosen to maintain the open view of the garden beyond and is complimented with attractive stainless steel support posts that achieve both a minimal and attractive finish.
