Garden Staircase and balustrades in Bristol

“We recently supplied to a customer in Bristol a powdercoated steel staircase and various sections of our stainless steel and glass balustrade. The garden stair was a modern design and featured timber inlay treads with side mounted handrails and glass infill panels”

Our client’s builder approached us for a quotation on a new steel access staircase and various balustrade guardings to a higher level garden patio on a project in Bristol. The project required a full site survey, design and manufacture of goods with courier delivery for DIY installation by the building contractor on site.

The balustrade system chosen was our modern yet cost-effective stainless steel and glass ‘System 1’ which is popular all year round. This glass balustrade design was used for the staircase, landings and to guard a fall in height from the higher level patio to the garden below in various areas. The system comprises :

• 48.3mm tubular stainless steel upright baluster posts
• 42.4mm tubular stainless steel handrails
• 10mm clear toughened safety glass infill panels
• Varying fixing details at the base to suit the application
• All metalwork external marine grade 316, brushed finish stainless steel.

The staircase style chosen was again a contemporary looking system which was galvanized and then powdercoated to RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey which is extremely popular in modern construction.  The treads supplied were ‘pan style’ to allow the builder to infill with their own timber deck boards of choice and round bar riser infills were used to reduce the gaps.

Both the staircase and all balustrades were delivered directly from our Sheffield fabrication workshop down to Bristol by courier, for DIY assembly and installation. Such products are supplied semi-assembled to reduce the amount of site work required, and allow for easy installation.

The whole project took around 4-5 weeks to complete from start to finish and the builder has just placed another glass balustrade order with us for another project.
