Every staircase we make is drawn and built for its own opening. This page is a starting point for a feature stair — the ones that are meant to be looked at rather than just climbed.
Where to start
If you know roughly what you want, our priced ranges are the quickest route in:
- Steel spine staircase, ClearFix — floating spine, solid oak treads, frameless glass held by visible stainless clamps.
- Steel spine staircase, InvisiFix — the same stair with the fixings concealed under oak cover caps, so no metal shows at the tread.
- Customisable steel staircases — external, fire escape, access and loading dock stairs in bolt-together kit form.
- Bespoke spiral staircases — the smallest footprint of any stair shape.
If you are still deciding, read our steel staircase buying guide first. It works through shape, construction, treads, balustrade and what actually drives the price — and it is honest about which options suit which job.
Materials and finishes
Our feature stairs and balustrades are generally made in:
- Stainless steel — where the look demands it, or near the coast; specify 316
- Mild steel, powder coated — the usual choice for an internal feature stair, in any colour
- Galvanised — the standard for external and industrial work
- Galvanised and powder coated — what we would normally recommend for an external domestic stair, giving an even colour with the corrosion protection underneath
Our material and finish standards page sets out what to expect from each.
What we can build in
Landings and kite winder treads for awkward layouts, LED lighting in the handrails, solid oak or glass treads, frameless or framed glass balustrades, anti-slip nosings, riser infill bars, curved and radiused flights. If you have seen something you like, send us a photograph.
How it works
We survey where the job needs it, produce AutoCAD drawings to your dimensions for approval before manufacture, build in Sheffield, and either send it as a bolt-together kit or install it with our own team. Structural calculations are available on request.
All our own staircases are UKCA certified to BS EN 1090-2 and carry a 10 year warranty.
Tell us about the job
The two things we need to start are the floor-to-floor height and the opening you have to work with. Photographs and a rough sketch help more than you would think. Call 0114 243 9009 or email sales@diometonline.co.uk.
