Upgrading your existing staircase
Many traditional older properties feature the same style timber staircases complete with matching timber spindle infills, a traditional but old-fashioned look. Of these staircases many will also be dark wood that take away huge amounts of light and appear to enclose and restrict the space available. Glass staircases, by way of an upgrade, work well in virtually any property to create a more minimalistic look, transforming your staircase into a lighter, more spacious environment.
Upgrading is simple and surprisingly cost-effective given the vast improvements that can be gained. The most popular upgrade from a traditional to a glass staircase is to simply remove the timber spindles and make good / replace the base rail whilst leaving the existing timber posts and handrail in place. The timber spindle gap then simply requires measuring or templating for replacement with toughened glass panels and popularly stainless steel glass clamps.
