The challenge presented by the porch extension was the flat roof covered with a waterproof membrane, which limited the options for securing balustrades. Traditional methods would risk puncturing the membrane, leading to potential water damage. However, our team at DioMet is no stranger to such challenges. We deployed our tried and tested cavity wall balustrade system, which circumvents these issues with a unique fixing method that preserves the integrity of the waterproofing.
Our system features galvanized and powder-coated metalwork, ensuring longevity and resistance to the elements, and available in a wide range of RAL colours. The toughened glass infill panels offer elevated views and light transfer while maintaining a strong safety barrier – all without the need for posts. The aesthetic is clean and uncluttered, contributing to the modern feel of the renovation.
Importantly, our design requires no fixings to the balcony base. This ingenious approach means the waterproof membrane remains intact. The load is ingeniously transferred through the substantial handrail and base rail back to the building, a testament to the innovative engineering solutions DioMet provides, all UKCA certifed as always.
