Stainless Steel Wire Rope Balustrade System 3 (with handrail)

Satin-brushed stainless steel posts and handrail with tensioned 4mm stainless wire rope infills, for a light, open look that keeps the view. It suits staircases, balconies, terraces, decking and landings, and is often specified for commercial and office settings. Buy it by the metre online or ask us for a bespoke made-to-measure quote. Everything is made at our Sheffield factory, supply-only as a self-install kit or installed by us.

Worth knowing about wire rope and the regulations

Horizontal wire rope is popular and we are happy to supply it, but it is worth understanding how it sits with BS 6180 before you buy. Where you are guarding a fall in a home or other domestic setting, a wire infill can be difficult to make fully compliant: tensioned wires can be pushed apart enough to let a 100mm sphere through, and the regulations do not allow a gap a 100mm sphere can pass. A run of horizontal wires is also generally considered climbable, like a ladder, which is restricted where young children can reach it.

None of that means you cannot have it, and plenty of people do choose wire rope for homes with those trade-offs in mind, whether they buy it from us or elsewhere. It just means the decision, and the risk, is yours to weigh. A supply-only kit built to go together fast

The posts come pre-drilled for the wires with a handrail connector, and the wires use adjustable tension fittings, so the kit assembles on site with reasonable DIY skills and the basic fixing instructions we provide. We are a phone call away if you need a steer. Prefer not to fit it yourself? We can quote for professional installation too.

Fixing options

Choose base-fixed, concrete-fixed or side-fixed (side-fixed carries a small per-metre surcharge). Not sure which suits your structure? Send a photo and a measurement and we will point you the right way.

How to order

If your run works out close to a round meterage, use the online calculator to pick the fixing detail, meterage and number of corners. We then get in touch, produce a drawing for you to confirm, and make any tweaks before fabrication so you know exactly what you are getting and that it fits. Delivery and lead times

Lead times vary with the workshop schedule, so please ask when you enquire, and we will arrange delivery on a weekday that suits you.

International delivery

We ship worldwide. On made-to-measure runs we quote overseas carriage per order once we have the sizes and delivery address, crated to travel safely.

Looking after it

Stainless steel needs only occasional upkeep to stay looking its best, more often near the coast. A wipe-over with any general stainless steel cleaning product is all it takes; the wires can be checked for tension at the same time.
